FAQ
Quick answers for texture packs, mods, and the most common setup questions.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I use a texture pack?
Download the texture pack, keep the file as a .zip, and add it to Minecraft's resource pack folder.
- Open Minecraft.
- Go to Options > Resource Packs.
- Click Open Pack Folder.
- Move the
.zipfile into that folder. - Back in Minecraft, move the pack to the selected list and apply it.
How do mods work?
Some mod downloads come as a .zip file. Open the zip first, then move the actual mod files into your Minecraft mods folder.
If you are using the Modrinth App, open your instance, click Open Folder, and place the mod files inside the mods folder there.
Do I need to unzip texture packs?
No. Texture packs should usually stay as .zip files. Minecraft reads them directly, so do not extract them unless the pack page tells you to.
Do I need Fabric, Forge, or Quilt for texture packs?
No. Resource packs work in vanilla Minecraft. Mod loaders are only needed for actual mods.
Which mod loader should I use?
Use the loader that the mod page asks for. If a mod says Fabric, install Fabric. If it says Forge or Quilt, use that instead. The wrong loader will usually make the mod fail to load.
Where is the mods folder in Modrinth?
Open your Modrinth instance, select Open Folder, and then open the mods folder. That is where the mod files need to go.
Why does my pack not show up?
Usually one of these is the reason:
- The file was extracted instead of being kept as a
.zip. - The pack was put in the wrong folder.
- The pack is not made for your Minecraft version.
- Minecraft needs a restart before the pack appears.
Can I use more than one texture pack?
Yes. You can stack multiple packs. The order matters, because the packs higher in the list usually override the ones below them.
Can I use these packs and mods on Java Edition only?
These downloads are made for Minecraft Java Edition unless a page says something different. Bedrock Edition uses a different system.
